Mariveles village to build cyber library

MARIVELES, Bataan – Barangay San Carlos of this industrial town will soon have the first cyber library in Bataan.

Village chief Arvin Zurita in a news briefing says he recently purchased several computer sets and other gadgets in preparation to build a cyber library in his area.

A cyber library is a digital resource that replaces a traditional hard copy library. Cyber libraries are becoming more common ways to make library resources digital and enable more versatile access.

Zurita added that it will be an area where residents here especially students can research and access information through online search using the internet-connected workstations. Recently, Zurita formally received a 200 thousand peso grant from Metrobank Foundation to finance the said project.

Established on January 8, 1979 by George S.K. Ty, sixteen years after he founded the Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company, the Metrobank Foundation is engaged in social development projects in the Philippines and other parts of Asia. As the corporate social responsibility arm of the Metrobank Group, the Foundation implements various programs in education, visual arts and healthcare.

“The building will be built through the help of the provincial government as promised by our beloved governor, Abet Garcia,” Zurita told this reporter.
