The Mariveles District Hospital is still awaiting requirements and necessary license from the Department of Health before it can fully operate as a district hospital.
However, according to Mrs. Emelita Estigoy, MDH administrative officer, the hospital has been accepting out-patient clients and operates on 24/7.
“Victims of emergency cases arising from road accidents are brought here for first aid and immediate medical attention, but if it is necessary to transfer a patient to another hospital, an ambulance is available to rush the patient to Balanga,” said Ms. Estigoy.
The MDH had already admitted almost 3,000 out-patients since it started operation latter part of last year. It is now complete with X-ray machine and other medical apparatus donated by GN Power and some concerned sectors of Mariveles.
The MDH building located just opposite the administration building of Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) was then the headquarters of Bataan Export Processing Zone Police Force before it was converted to Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP).
