Monetary reward to senior citizens

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bataan, presided by Vice Gov. Cris Garcia recently resolved and declared the validity of Municipal Ordinance no. 2020 – 173 passed by the Sangguniang Bayan of Mariveles penned by Councilor Tito Catipon entitled, ” An Ordinance giving Monetary Reward to Senior Citizens of Mariveles who reach the age of eighty (80), ninety (90) and one hundred years (100) and providing funds thereof, without prejudice to relevant laws, rules and regulations”.
The ordinance is in support to the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010 along with the Republic Act 10868 that provides an additional benefit to the Filipino elders who will reach the age of 100 tears.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Mariveles likewise reiterated that the ordinance is aimed at motivating the senior citizens to live longer and ease them and their families from the financial burden of expensive medications and basic necessities, aside from the grant given by the National Government.
Councilor Catipon also stated that only a few Filipinos reach the age of 100 years and with the legacy, they have contributed, it is but right and just for the government to reciprocate and compensate them with its resources and services, to still enjoy life.
