BALANGA CITY, Bataan – “We should have more evacuation areas that are also PWD friendly”, said Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) Head Rolando DG. Cortes during the meeting with the Provincial Council on Disability Affairs (PCDA), Tuesday.
Persons with Disability actively participated in various activities provided for them during the 40th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week celebration last July 17, 2018. Different activities such as singing and cooking contest were enjoyed by the participants.
According to TESDA Head, Virginia Bondoc, it seems like it is the most awaited event of the year for the PWD community for it is the time they can show what other talents they’ve got.
PWDs may seem to have only a week to celebrate every year but the truth is many of them are still having difficulties especially during disaster. Some evacuation areas are not PWD friendly that concerns the PCDA.
Rotary Club of Balanga Head Maricel Galura said that they hope to have more evacuation centers built in the future that are more suitable to the needs of the PWDs and the community as a whole.
