SAMAL, Bataan – Consumer giant Nestlé Philippines recently bought a large parcel of land in this municipality to build its huge warehouse for its Central Luzon operations.

Mayor Generosa “Gene” Dela Fuente, in an exclusive interview with 1Bataan.com, said the warehouse will be located in a 3 hectare property in Barangay Gugo.

“First, I was offering my lot in Pilar town during our negotiations but I was very happy when they decided to buy a lot here in our town,” Dela Fuente narrated. Dela Fuente added she could not reveal yet the full details of the company’s investment plan here.

Last year, Nestlé Philippines embarked on an expansion program to double the size of its existing factory in Tanauan, Batangas, making it one of the largest production facilities of its parent firm, Nestlé SA, in the world.

The Swiss-based conglomerate said it would undertake the expansion because the Philippines now belongs to the top 10 markets of Nestlé’s world, becoming a “prime location” for direct investments.

Nestlé Philippines chair and chief executive John Martin Miller said, in a published media interview, that the Philippines is an “extremely important market” to them.

Nestlé today produces and markets products under some of the country’s well known brands such as Nescafe, Nido, Milo, Nestea, Maggi, Bear Brand, Nestle, and Purina, among others.

Their product range has expanded to include milk, coffee, non-dairy creamer, food and beverages, infant nutrition, ice cream and chilled dairy, breakfast cereals, confectionery, and pet-care.
