Amparo is a tough police official who demands a lot from her subordinates. Just last week – and barely a month since she assumed her new post – she relieved two policemen she tagged as “undesirables.”

“How could you cleanse the town of criminals and lawless elements if you cannot rid your own backyard and station of scalawags,” Amparo said. “If they are found to be coddling drug pushers, in the town… more heads will roll.”

Trained in Seattle, Washington, Amparo said such decisions can be done without hesitation. She warned criminals and drug pushers to leave the town or be “shipped out,” including any police personnel found involved with them. “It is an open secret that there are a few policemen who are in cahoots if not protectors of drug pushers here,” said Amparo.

A long-time employee at the Municipal Hall seems to be an early admirer of Amparo and said: “She has succeeded where her predecessors had failed.”

Amparo, who welcomes the support of locals in her campaign against drugs, thanked Mayor Gila S. Garcia and Gov. Abet S. Garcia for giving her the chance to prove her worth and serve Bataan.
