Who will be Miss Bataan 2014?

Clad in jeans and white shirts they were presented to the members of the local media who grilled each of them with mind boggling questions on various topics including politics and other national issues. Each candidate confidently answered each question in Filipino and English.

After the presentation and press conference, the newsmen voted for the “Darling of the Press” which will be announced on the pre-pageant night on September 24, 2014. Coronation night will be on September 28.

The presence of the mayors from the different towns and city headed by Bataan Mayors League President, Mayor Gila Garcia of Dinalupihan in the audience mostly composed of tourism officers and supporters added moral support to the candidates.

Also held on the same day was the induction of Executive Committee members along with the municipal and city tourism council officers of BPTCFI. Department of Tourism Regional Director for Central Luzon, Ronaldo Tiotuico, officiated the induction rites and lauded the provincial government of Bataan for pioneering tourism projects such as the sustainability of BTCFI and the organization of capability building seminars for tourism officers.

The new BPTCFI officers are Vicky Garcia, Chairperson; Herbert Vianzon, Vice Chairperson; Lorelly Del Rosario, Secretary; Dr. Cleotilde Concepcion, Treasurer; Mayor Benjamin Serrano Jr., Auditor and Mayor Gila Garcia, Public Relations Officer.

The following composed the Board of Trustees: Ma. Teresa Robles, Ana Marie Gardoce, Mayor Generosa Dela Fuente, Isabel Garcia, Mayor Alicia Pizarro, Lilia Raymundo, Eliza Roque, Dr. Cynthia Estanislao, Ana Maria Tuazon, Nelin Cabahug, Raul Mamac, Droy Jalbuna, Arturo Villanueva, Dr. Tarcilla Javier, Amanda Battad, Pamela Santos, Lino Obana, Teresita Cuevas and Dr. Ronaldo Pozon.

Bataan Governor Albert S. Garcia led the induction rites of the new officials of city and municipal tourism councils from the 11 towns and one component city.

Among the basic functions of local tourism councils are assisting the regulation and supervision of tourism related establishments; assisting in the matter of licensing of tourism establishments to ensure safe and enjoyable stay of travelers; enforcing sanitary standards in public restrooms and tourist transport services; initiating programs for tourism development; focus on environmental protection; classify and evaluate tourism destination sites and activities; and guiding local government units in the development and implementation of tourism programs.
