NTC inspects CMTS and broadband services in Bataan

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Regional Office 3 personnel visited the province of Bataan to conduct an inspection on Cellular Mobile Telephone System (CMTS) and Broadband Services in public elementary and secondary schools.

The NTC Team, composed of Engr. Francisco Ancheta, Mary Jane Del Rosario, Eriberta Tamoro Sao and Engr. Ronald Maninang will conduct the inspection in the towns of Pilar, Hermosa, Abucay, Samal, and Balanga City from May 12-15, 2015.
.
Geoff Loyola, Management Information System (MIS) Office and Provincial Information Office (PIO) chief reported to the NTC group the performance of major telecommunication companies in the province such as Globe, Smart and Sun Celullar.

Reports said that despite telco rivals, Globe Telecom Inc. and Smart Communications Inc., continued race for the roll out of fourth generation (4G) infrastructure for the long term evolution (LTE) as well as high speed packet access plus (HSPA+) technology to provide subscribers with fast internet connections, Bataan residents still complain of slow or weak signals most of the time specially during weekends.

“Here in Bataan, we also subscribe to ComClark, a cable and internet provider from Pampanga which is far more dependable and efficient in terms of signal. Here at the Capitol, Globe is our LTE provider. Smart is dependable naman in some areas,” Loyola said.

In a phone interview, Bataan Department of Education (DepEd) Division Superintendent Tarcilla Javier said she is somehow contented with the existing 3G providers in the province. “Meron pong mahihina talaga ang signal in some areas of Limay and Dinalupihan specially doon po sa mga malalayo o wala silang mga cellsite,” Javier told 1Bataan.com.

Javier also added that she still awaits the formal report of one of her staff who accompanied the NTC personnel in their inspection in the above mentioned designated areas.

Meanwhile, in other areas of the country, all cable TV facilities, maritime stations, telecommunication facilities (including fixed/land based), mobile and repair shop centers here are also being inspected by the NTC. Other than the regular inspection, the team also scheduled mobile licensing activities in all provinces, towns and cities.

Attached to the mobile services were the conduct of the Restricted Landmobile Radio Operator Seminar (RLM) and the issuance of certificates. They also accommodated registration of dealers, retailers of cellular phones and repair shop centers, as well as consumer welfare and protection desk to cater concerns like blocking of stolen/lost cellphones/sim and text scams/malicious text messages.
