BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Local farmers and fisherfolks were given awards by the Provincial Government of Bataan in recognition of their valuable contributions to the agricultural and economic development of the province.
Board Member Benjie Serrano, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture in his message said, “We commend our farmers and fisherfolks for being active partners in the development of the province”.
“Their contributions are vital to the attainment of sustainable agriculture in the province, which is the thrust of Gov. Garcia”, added the board member who personally attended the awarding ceremony here recently.
The giving of commendation to farmers and fisherfolks was part of the annual Provincial Achievement Day activity conducted by the provincial agriculture office.
Joey Dizon, senior agriculturist, said awarded were Larry Micua, Outstanding Small Animal Raiser; Ferdinand Bancua, Outstanding Fisherfolk (Capture); Avelino Capuli, Outstanding MFARMC; Jesus Saldo, Outstanding Coconut Farmer; and Narciso Lacsamana, Outstanding Corn Farmer.
Other awardees were Victorino Santos, Outstanding Fisherfolk (Culture); Adelaida Medina, Outstanding Entrepreneur; Bernard Rotairo, Outstanding Large Animal Raiser; Michael Enriquez,Outstanding HVCPD Farmer (Vegetable Category); Ruben Sugcano, Outstanding HVCPD Farmer (Plantation Category); and Jaime Soriano, Outstanding Rice Farmer Adopting Integrated Farming System.
Awardees got P10,000 cash reward each. First District Congresswoman Geraldine Roman attended the ceremony.
