OWD general manager Benigno “Benny” Andres said the project will save them almost half a million pesos in their electricity consumption. “The electricity that will be generated from this solar farm will be used to supply the needs of our 11 pumping stations and our office,” Andres told 1Bataan.com.
At present, the OWD management is preparing for the formal inauguration of the newly built steel-bolted glass-fused reservoir in Barangay Mulawin on April 9 coinciding with the Araw ng Kagitingan rites.
President Benigno S. Aquino III was invited by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) to grace the formal opening of the 1 million- liter modern reservoir. The reservoir construction project costs P13 million, using technology from the United Kingdom and the first in the province among the local water districts here.
The project is part of OWD’s P101-million loan from KFW, a German financial institution and LWUA.
