BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The provincial government is contemplating on constructing a new provincial jail facilities worth P200 million to address overcrowding in the existing provincial jail.
Provincial Engineer Ric Yuzon and District Jail Warden Sup.t Clarence Mayangao presented to Gov Abet S. Garcia the architectural design and building plan of the proposed BJMP Bataan District Jail Building which will be built inside the provincial government-owned lot in Barangay Dona, Orani town.
The proposal came after Warden Mayangao reported to the governor that the existing buildings of the provincial jail inside the capitol compound can no longer accommodate the increasing number of inmates which is now more than 2,000.
A graduate of PNPA class 1995, Supt. Mayangao told the governor that the existing BJMP facilities is already heavily-congested.
The three existing BJMP Bataan District Jail buildings were actually built thru the initiative of then governor, the late Cong. Enrique “Tet” Garcia.
“At least, the inmates can then heave a sigh of relief once the new facilities are set up and we thank Gov. Garcia for his initiative and concern to the prisoners,” added Mayangao.
