Paguia presents ESNA at Leaders in Innovation Fellowship demo day

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Dr. Hermogenes Paguia, Bataan Peninsula State University Director of Research and Development, presented Electronic Soil Nitrogen Analyzer (ESNA) at Newton Agham Leaders in Innovation Fellowship Demo Day on Thursday.
ESNA is an electronic tool developed by the university that analyzes the nitrogen based from nitrate concentration of soil with the use of nitrate ion-selective electrode.
“With the use of ESNA, application of nitrate fertilizers can be optimized”, said Paguia during his presentation attended by experts and researchers held at Asian Institute of Management, Makati City.
“There will be improvement of soil condition, pH level, and fertility”, he also said.
“Ultimately, there will be increased productivity of crops”, Paguia said.
Associate Professor Engr. Rodrigo Munoz from BPSU College of Architecture and Engineering is the technical developer of ESNA.
Paguia was one of the 15 experts who presented innovations during the demo day.
They are the scholars this year of the Leaders of Innovation Fellowship which is part part of Newton Agham Program, a collaboration between governments of United Kingdom and Philippines.
The took 2 weeks long master class at Fellows of the Royal Academy of Engineering in London, United Kingdom last January.
BPSU contingent that included Assistant Professor Dr. Rina Paguia, Innovation and Technology Service Office Manager Arlene Ibanez, Munoz, and 4 other staff attended the demo day presentation.
