BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) Acting Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training Services Dr. Hermogenes Paguia is seeking the presidency of his alma mater Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC).
“My goals for BASC include student welfare and development, transparency and governance, and advancement in research and development and innovations, among others”, Paguia said who graduated with the course of BS Agricultural Education from the said school located in San Ildefonso, Bulacan in 1992.
Four years later after getting his college degree, he finished his Master of Science in Agriculture from Pampanga Agricultural State University (PASU). He took his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Agricultural Sciences also from the same university in 2006.
Currently, Paguia has faculty rank of Professor VI.
“I will push for excellent delivery of instruction through highly qualified, competent and globally competitive faculty and appropriate learning facilities and services. I will promote global competitiveness by offering international training programs, industry immersion, scholarships and research grants”, he pointed out.
“There will be good governance through transparency in administrative records management, financial budgeting, and utilization monitoring system”, he said.
“I aspire for BASC to become a leading institution in Advanced Research Development and Innovations with increased budget allocation for the improvement of research facilities and research and development centers, capacity building , incentives, networking, collaboration, and formulation of equitable policies for research and development programs for technology transfer and commercialization”, he also said.
In almost 24 years in service, Paguia has held numerous posts in BPSU including in the later part of his academic career Director of Research and Development and Director of Extension and Training Services.
He has attended many international and national leadership and research conferences. He has been invited as resource speakers in various national conventions regarding research and extension.
He was project leader of many research and extension projects. He also has authored or co-authored several agriculture research studies.
