BALANGA CITY, Bataan – ““Kung nasusukat natin ang vision, nakikita natin na hindi lang ito statistics, nararamdaman din ito ng ating mga mamamayan.,” Gov. Abet said in his message during the Provincial Development Council (PDC) meeting held yesterday, December 6, 2017 at Lou-Is Resort and Restaurant, this city.

The governor also underscored the importance of good planning to the attainment of our vision. He also broke the good news that based on the latest data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Bataan has the lowest poverty incidence at 1.6%, against a national average of 22%. Actually we are second to Batanes at 0%, but in the report, there is a footnote indicating “lacking sampling size” meaning the province of Batanes could even be smaller than a barangay in Bataan. Gov. Abet likewise stressed that increase in economic growth lowers poverty incidence.

He also congratulated the local government executives present and heads of different agencies for the several awards received by the province in different prestigious award giving bodies such as the DILG for the Seal of Good Local Governance and the Dept. of Health for the Red Orchid Awards.

Some significant matters presented and discussed in the meeting are the following: (1) approved programs and projects in the 2018 Annual Budget of selected NGAs, (2) approval and endorsement of the 2019 List of Priority Projects, Programs and Activities from LGUs and Provincial Departments to be submitted to NEDA-R3 for funding considerations of NGAs, (3) approved ROLL IT and TRIPPC projects for 2018 and endorsement of new projects for 2019, (4) approval of Local Road Network Development Plan (LRNDP) for 2018-2022, (5) results of the 2017 City/Municipality Competitive Index (CMCI) ranking, and (6) Sustainable Local Economic Development (LED) Strategies for LGUs.

In attendance were mayors and representatives of the city and different municipalities of the province, heads of different departments and national agencies, representatives of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and congressmen of the 2 districts of Bataan, and other stakeholders.
