BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Peninsula Electric Cooperative Incorporated (PENELCO) has earmarked some P180 million for the installation of four substations here to ensure reliable energy supply and to provide efficient power requirements of expanding clientele.
Rene Santos, Balanga City PENELCO manager has disclosed the setting up of 60 mega volt ampere (MVA) substations in this Component City, a fast emerging commercial hub in Western Central Luzon, is instrumental component to inclusive growth of the peninsula.
He stressed the current capacity of electric power firm is adequate to meet the demand of estimated 20,600 members comprising of households, commercial establishments and other industries in Balanga City, however, with projected 10% increase in consumption next year requires unabated adjustment in energy distribution system with the arrival of micro, small, medium sized entrepreneurs coming from the nearby province and Metro Manila.
Santos disclosed that the critical role of electrical energy in enhancing the socio-economic aspirations of the residents to achieve better quality of life and developing progressive community.
He mentioned great demand for power in the coming years with the projected plan of three -supermarkets to establish their branches in Balanga City namely Walter Mart, Robinson and SM and the on-going expansion of facilities of some medical hospitals, dental and optical clinics, fastfoods, dormitories and other service-oriented utilities.
Balanga City is the province’s commercial, government and educational center.
