BALANGA CITY, Bataan– The six-members of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee of the Province’s Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) are readying to undertake a comprehensive evaluation of a proposed sanitary landfill project.

Board Member Manuel N. Beltran, chair of Environment and Natural Resources Committee, explained that the Committee is cautiously reviewing the practicality and critical impact of the project to the ecosystem and to the well-being of the residents near the proposed garbage dumping site.

The Committee is earnestly analyzing the suitable location of the sanitary landfill project as to the plausible and damaging effects to health and safety, ways of disposing household and commercial trash, efficient delivery and transport of debris to designated material recovery area and other multiple methods of waste plant operations and systematic techniques of converting the collected waste into organic fertilizer for farming purposes, Beltran said.

According to Beltran, the Committee is eyeing for a-5 hectare land in the upland section within the periphery of Orion, Pilar and Bagac towns as a more convenient site for the proposed sanitary landfill.

He described the strict implementation of solid waste management practices in Bataan would enhance the agro-industrial development scheme of the local government authorities and promoting investments in the province.

The preservation and protection of the province’s natural resources are decisive factors to achieve socio-economic prosperity like providing safeguard mechanism to forested areas, Bataan National Park’s flora and fauna, water shed, landscapes and seascapes and other essential components for the province’s sustainable growth, Beltran added.
