BALANGA CITY, Bataan – “When we speak of children, we are referring to people below 18 years of age and more importantly, protecting the rights of these children is not just an option, but a responsibility,” Governor Abet S. Garcia said in his State of the Children Address (SOCA) as read by former BM Gaudencio Ferrer in the provincial children’s summit held by the Provincial Council for the Welfare of Children (PCWC) this morning, at Lou-Is Resort & Restaurant.
Also included in the SOCA are the children’s rights, PCWC interagency reports, and interventions undertaken by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
Aside from the SOCA, various awards and recognitions were given to the following:

Brgy. Baseco in Mariveles, Brgy. Diwa in Pilar, Brgy. Batangas II in Mariveles, Brgy. San Roque in Samal, Brgy. Bilolo in Orion, and Brgy. Nagwaling in Pilar
PSWDO Head Marilyn Tigas, Mariveles Mayor Ace Jello Concepcion, Samal Vice Mayor Aida Macalinao, Ms. Presentacion Pinaroc, some members of the council and barangay officials were also present and gave their closing remarks.
