BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Representative Jose Enrique S. Garcia lll, of the 2nd Congressional District of Bataan is espousing that the operations of the Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA) be under the direct supervision of the Office of the President for more systematic and effective procedures to cope with the fast growing industrialization pace of the historic peninsula.
Rep. Garcia explained that the attachment of the MBDA to the Office of the President like its counterpart Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) would provide bigger economic and security development influence for the province which is one of the premier investment hubs in Central Luzon.
A former City Mayor of Balanga, Rep. Garcia describes the roles of MBDA such as planning, monitoring and coordinating as well as exercising regulatory and supervisory authority over the delivery of services that are essentially advantageous on the part of the eco-industrial evolution of the province.
The province hosts vital industries such as the Petron Bataan Refinery, petrochemical industrial complex ,Total Petroleum (Philippines), Unioil Philippines, Philippine National Oil Company- Alternative Fuels Corporation, Philippine Resins Industries, Bataan 2020 paper mills, Department of National Defense ammunition plant and different locators at Freeport Area of Bataan in Mariveles, Hermosa Economic Zone and Bataan Techno Park in Morong.
Meanwhile, the province’s component city is the center of trade and commerce, education and emerging as a commercial growth area in the Western Central Luzon corridors.
He said the upgrading of facilities and closer enforcement of transport and traffic management, solid waste disposal, flood control and sewerage management, urban renewal, zoning and land use planning, health, public safety and other equally-important services are expected to be cohesively administered by the national agencies.
