Residents and local tourists have sought the intervention of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bataan 2nd Engineering District to compel the private contractor of Umagol bridge in Barangay Bannawang, Bagac to speed up the construction of the project.

Nick S. Ancheta, Bagac municipal administrator, has received numerous complaints coming from motorists, traders, residents, and local visitors spending their weekend in the province’s two premier tourists destinations, Bagac and Morong towns, that the 34 meter concrete structure worth P 27.5 million is reportedly an accident prone due to rough surface condition and slow stages of work.
Mr. Ancheta said the project is about half-kilometer from the Friendship Tower in Bagac located along the stretch of Governor Linao National Road in the vicinity of Barangay Banawang.

Meanwhile, Engineer Daniel Diaz, project engineer of the DPWH 2nd Engineering District, said the private contractor has been informed of the growing number of complaints of the residents and motorists on the bridge approaches causing several vehicular accidents .
The contractor, Orani Builders Supply, explained that the problems probably was caused by hard strata during bored piling which certainly delayed the projected timetable completion. He added the multi-million bridge project started last August 9,2017 would become fully-operational on April 7,2020.
