ORANI, Bataan – Back in October last year, Bataan 1st District Rep. Geraldine B. Roman filed House Bill No. 3965 that will require all cities and municipalities to inform all barangays within their jurisdiction of all laws passed by Congress and approved by the President.
“Let us remember that information is freedom,” Congresswoman Roman said in her Facebook Page post.
Roman added that the State recognizes the vital role of communication and information in nation building and the right of the Filipino people to information on matters of public concern as provided in the 1987 Constitution.
She further added that if this Bill becomes a law, the local chief executive of every city and municipality shall be responsible for the dissemination of information on the approved laws and assign and direct the legal officer, information officer or the development planning coordinator within 90 days from the effectivity of the approved law.
The local chief executive is also tasked to furnish all barangays within its jurisdiction copies of the approved law and cause the posting of the same in the bulletin board at the entrance of the city, municipal or barangay halls.
