SAMAL, Bataan – The municipal government of this town recently launched the “salbaBIDA” (Bold Intervention in Drug Addiction) program for the rehabilitation of drug personalities who recently surrendered to the local police here.

“Humawak ka lang sa salbaBIDA. Ito ang aking panawagan sa aking mga kababayang naligaw ng landas at nais magbagong buhay,” Mayor Generosa Dela Fuente told

Under the said program, Dela Fuente added, those who surrendered will be screened by the Department of Health (DOH) personnel in coordination with their municipal health office and municipal social welfare and development office. After the interview and series of tests, the personnel from the DOH will determine if the patient is able to undergo reformation or drug rehabilitation.

Dela Fuente added that the municipal government is finding ways to help them in their livelihood as long as they are “serious in changing their old ways.” “We have more than 100 persons who surrendered. And we have this project salbaBIDA. Talagang literal na salbabida. We are pushing them to make a U-turn sa pagbabagong buhay,” the tough lady mayor said.
