BALANGA CITY, Bataan- To raise funds for homes of the Homeless here,  about  2,200 runners braved the morning cold Sunday to join in the Heroes Run of Gawad Kalinga held in Abucay town.

Participants were mostly youth coming from various schools of the town.

Mayor Ana Santiago said this activity will help build houses for the homeless people here.

GK Central Luzon coordinator Jon Ramos said 30 houses are to be built in the GK Abucay village in the coming months but some homeless asked for more to be built since the 30 houses they are going to build is just a tip of the iceberg compared to the big volume of people here who are no houses to dwell.

Workers at the Freeport Area of Bataan have the same problem as they also sought the of Gov Abet S Garcia to give priority on the housing problem in Bataan, particulalry workers inside  FAB.

Gov Garcia plans to tap the help of private funders through the government’s initiated Public, Private , Partnership (PPP)program .

The Heroes Run is the biggest run for a cause held in Abucay and the first held by GK Central Luzon in the region.
