Ribbon cutting was performed by Mr. Filipino Sonido, President and CEO of I&E Industrial System Servicers, Inc., Mr. George D. Fiel, President of SOPHIA, Mr. Eduardo Tuazon, owner of CT Edifice, and Mr. Domer A. Rubiano, Petron Bataan Refinery Manager.
After the opening prayer of Methodist Church minister, Pastor Conrado R. Cruz, guests were welcomed by Ms. Imelda Tuazon-Rubiano, SOPHIA Managing Director. Mr. Sonido for his part, regaled the audience with snippets of his experiences in teaching instrumentation students in his training center in Batangas, City. He also inspired the Board of Directors by advising them to keep that passion for training, be open for innovation, set a vision, promote mission and values, impart quality education, and most importantly, put God at the center of their lives.
Guest of honor, Atty. Teodoro “Ted” C. Pascua, TESDA Deputy Director General for Operations, shared with the audience the agency’s efforts to help improve the lives of the Filipino people through their short-term course offerings. He further exhorted the Filipino work force to adopt the values of resiliency, adaptability and industriousness in order to rise above all odds.
Ms. Beth Baluyot summed up the proceedings by mentioning the wisdom of King Solomon (Sophia is a latin word for wisdom). SOPHIA is recognized by TESDA to train students in Instrumentation Control and Servicing NC II. It was also very recently awarded the permit to operate as an Assessment Center for the same short-term course.
