City Ordinance no. 03 S 2020, creating and approving the Charter of the City College of Balanga”, was unanimously approved in last Monday’s session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan sponsored by Board Member Rey Ibe, Chairman of the Education Committee.
The Ordinance stated that this is in response to the urgency of providing college and post secondary education as a strong foundation in arming the youth for nation building.
City Mayor Francis Garcia through the Committee on Education proposed the establishment of the City College of Balanga that will offer degree courses in the fields of Sciences, Arts, Education, Commerce, Engineering including non-degree programs.
With the 2,958 senior high school graduates of Balanga City and 2,579 enrollees at the Bataan Peninsula State University both have campuses in Balanga, BPSU is unable to accommodate Balanga City students because of the limited resources given to the local state university.
Mayor Francis Garcia added that the City College of Balanga, as an institution of hope, shall develop globally competitive professionals and effective leaders that will help in the attainment of the City’s vision of becoming a habitat
for Human Excellence.
