ORANI, Bataan – As early as last “Ash Wednesday” (up to this day), around 2,450 pilgrims have visited the shrine of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary and 10,000 pilgrims more are expected to come up to the Holy Week season, according to Sir Nasir Ocampo, Municipal Planning Development Officer.
MPDO Ocampo said that the figure came from the parish authorities who are scheduling the visits of the pilgrims from as far as Batangas, Laguna, Muntinlupa City, Mandaluyong City, Quezon City and other places, for them to be accommodated properly especially in their parking and church vigil.
Ocampo reiterated that Mayor Bondjong Pascual actually would like to have the exact number of pilgrims visiting the shrine as well as other tourists frequenting their town this summer season, that they are putting up a registration cum pasalubong centers in strategic areas , wherein for a “come on” they’re giving every tourist who will register, a free glass of fresh cold buko juice as an incentive.
Furthermore, Mayor Pascual, said that he wants to assess the actual volume of tourists coming to Orani, because their vision is that by 2020, Orani will be among the Top 5 Eco-Tourism destinations in Central Luzon.
He said that they’re exploring and developing more tourists touch points like the “sunflower walk” food trips and festivals, like the Alimango and Sugpo festival on their week long “Araw ng Orani” to encourage more tourist and make Orani one of the Top 5 destinations in Central Luzon.
