Three housing project sites in Bataan eyed

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Second congressional district Representative Enrique T. Garcia, Jr. is eyeing three feasible locations for housing projects for public and private employees and informal settlers of this province as fundamental module for the sustainable economic prosperity.

Garcia expressed his commitment to improve the quality of life of the residents through the implementation of a massive housing program which is a top priority in the government Public and Private Partnership investment scheme.

He said the master plan for the proposed housing projects in the upland villages of Bagong Silang in Balanga City, Duale in Limay and Alas-Asin, Mariveles towns is now in the final stage of virtually handling of priority housing investment development requirements both for private and public firms.

He said the housing project would solve the lack of suitable facilities for about 5,000 informal settlers dispersed along the stretch of Roman superhighway and coastal villages and the influx of migrant workers and their families with expected economic growth in the six ecozones in the province.

Christopher Leonzon, Bataan housing czar, explained during an interview with Power Radio 104.5 FM, that his office is still gathering data on the actual number of informal settlers to be relocated in the proposed housing projects.

He said the government PagIbig Housing Agency and a Malaysian land development firm have showed their willingness to finance the projects being initiated by Rep. Enrique Garcia and Governor Albert Garcia.

Leonzon said the Balanga City housing project is projected to accommodate 300 informal settlers affected by the construction of P2.4 billion government center and business hub and about 255 capitol employees who desire to own house and lot near their working place.

While in Mariveles, a mid rise condominium is being designed to house industrial workers in the fast growing Freeport Area of Bataan and with the expansion of power and energy industrial firms in Limay town about 100 hectares land in the upland village of Duale is expected to be developed into a complete environment-friendly community, Leonzon added.
