The Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) held the Provincial Youth Congress as part of the Linggo ng Kabataan celebration with a theme: “Transforming Education”.
In attendance are PYAP members of each municipality, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), Balangay Bayani, Gawad Kalinga, Pinas Forward, and public high school students from all over the province, today, Aug 16 at Lou-is Resort & Restaurant.
PSWD Officer Marilyn Tigas welcomed the delegates and thanked them for their active participation in PSWDO’s various programs together with PYAP. The purpose of the congress is to educate the youth that the government has a lot of programs for them if they’ll just be more involved in the society. Information booths of different agencies such as Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Public Employment Service (PESO), Iskolar ng Bataan, Department of Tourism (DOT), and Philippine Information Agency (PIA) provide flyers, news letters, brochures containing their office’s services and program pertaining to youths.
A Youth Forum about Rediscovering Filipino Leadership, Digital Bayanihan, and Barangay Walang Iwanan was facilitated by the presidents and representatives from the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO), Gawad Kalinga – Nueva Ecija, North, & Central Luzon.
“Anyone can be a leader regardless of who you are and what you have,” said PYD Officer Meynard Reyes who exemplifies a committed youth leader despite his handicap.
