Treat PWDs as normal people- Vice Gov. Cris
Bataan Vice Gov. Cris Garcia urged this morning the 460 participants in the 41st National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) summit held at the Vista Mall in Balanga City “to treat persons with disability (PWDs) as normal people ready to mingle with anyone else in the community.”
The Vice Governor admitted with all humility that her youngest sibling is with disability but she and her family treat him just like any normal person.
“Hindi namin siya itinuring na may kapansanan. Talaga namang napaka-special niya sa amin,” said Vice Gov. Garcia.
Even with disability, Ms. Garcia said, the PWDs should undergo skills training to prepare them for their future. She also announced that the provincial government may accept scholars for qualified PWDs.
Vice Gov. Cris said this coming August and September the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will tackle the issue of preparing budget for the PWDs. “So we want to hear from your sector any idea or suggestion on how we can be of help to your group, just tell us,” said the vice governor.
