PILAR, Bataan – Founded as Unioil Refinery Corporation in 1966 based in Pasig, now Unioil Petroleum Philippines Incorporated, engaged in oil, fuel and lubricants, recently launched their first ever “dugtong-buhay” bloodletting activity in Pilar town.

The highly innovative business has its gas station at Roman Superhighway, Balanga City headed by its station manager and CEO, Mr. Orlie dela Pena, who said that the bloodletting activity is the first activity of Unioil Bataan as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.

At first, CEO dela Pena said that they were only thinking to simply hold it at their trucking warehouse with their more than 40 drivers as donors, but since the place was limited, they decided to seek help from the Knights of Columbus Daughters of Mary Immaculate in Pilar town for a bigger and more convenient venue, The Centennial Hall of Pilar Parish Church.

Although they were only expecting around 30 bags of blood, Sir Orlie said that, they were able to collect more than they expected.

He thanked the Red Cross of Bataan as well as the doctors and nurses of DOH-Bataan who extended their assistance despite holding the activity on a Sunday.

Mr. dele Pena said that they turned the collected bags of blood over to Red Cross Bataan, who in turn will give it to indigent patients needing blood.
