Vice Cris, UST Most Outstanding Alumna

Bataan Vice Governor Cris Garcia this afternoon joins University of Santo Tomas’ (UST) roster of Most Outstanding Alumni of the College of Commerce and Business Administration for her exemplary achievement in the field of public service. The awarding ceremonies is being held today, September 16, 2019, at the UST Medicine Auditorium.

Vice Cris, as she is fondly called, finished her elementary and secondary education at the Balanga Elementary School and Tomas del Rosario Academy respectively. A few months after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree, major in Accountancy from UST in 1990, she worked as a legislative staff to then 2nd District Representative, the late Enrique “Tet” Garcia, Jr.
She continued her stint at the House of Representatives as Legislative Staff Officer until 2016 where she was exposed to matters pertaining to legislation that somehow prepared her for her current position as Vice Governor of Bataan.

In 2000, Vice Cris pursued her master’s degree in Business Administration major in Fiscal Administration at the Philippine School for Business Administration (PSBA) where she graduated Cum Laude in 2002.
In 2005, on top of her responsibilities, Vice Cris also served as Coordinator of the Iskolar ng Bataan program, which she efficiently held until 2016, the year when COMELEC officially recognized her as the substituted candidate for the vice governor position. Last May 2019, she ran unopposed for the same position.
