BALANGA CITY, Bataan- The provincial government of Bataan headed by Governor Abet S. Garcia is now rushing the creation of the Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA), a scheme to further to suit the needs of investors.
A brainchild of the bachelor governor, the proposed creation of the MBDA is in preparation for the expected arrival of multi- national firms-local and foreign- that had alrrady expressed interest in pouring in their investment in Bataan, particularly inside Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) and in Limay’s Phil. National Oil Company complex, a more than 500 hectares of land that had been converted into an industrial complex.
FAB’s and the more than 500 hectares of lot owned by PNOC were created by a law that had both crafted and mainly authored by Gov. Garcia when he was still a congressman of Bataan’s Second district.
Under the proposed MBDA scheme, Gov. Garcia pointed out during a recent public consultation held inside the Bulwagan 2 that there is a need to widen the Bataan expressway from Layac in Hermosa town all the way to Mariveles town, to make the strategic highway smooth and free from any unnecessary obstruction.
“It is actually patterned after the Metro Manila Development Authority and this will certainly for the benefit not only for investors but also the province as well,” stressed Garcia during the public hearing.
He cited a law that gives at least 35 meters wide of a road right of way, ensuring the smooth passage of all motorists, cargo trucks coming in and out of Bataan, passing through the Bataan expressway.
Once the MBDA program is achieved, newsmen based here seen that there will be a Bataan super highway where investors can travel unobstructed and protected.
Garcia also cited the full support of the district engineers Wilfredo S. Mallari of the First district and Reynaldo Venturina of Second district from the Department of Public Works and Highways who he said will play a major role in implementation of the proposed MBDA. Engrs. Mallari and Venturina are very supportive of the plan.
For his part, Sr. Supt. Audie Atienza, Bataan police director, also proposed the putting up of various PNP precints along the strategic locations in Bataan expressway to protect and assist the motorist particularly investors and businessmen.
Col. Atienza also proposed to the governor for the creation of PNP motorcycle units that will escort and assist investors coming and visiting in Bataan.
