Senator Imee Marcos and ACT CIS Party List Rep. Niña Taduran joined Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine B. Roman in the celebration of the International Women’s Day in Dinalupihan, Bataan on Sunday.
The celebration coincided with Kababaihan ng Bataan Tungo sa Kaunlaran’s (KABAKA) 23rd year founding anniversary celebration in the said municipality.
KABAKA was established in 1997 by former Congresswoman Herminia B. Roman.

After a brief welcome by Rep. Roman, Senator Marcos entertained some questions and inquiries about the local farmers’ plight at the height of the implementation of the rice tarrification law that flooded the market with cheaper imported rice varieties.
“Pinagtatrabahuhan namin ni Congresswoman Roman…kinakailangang matulungan ang ating mga farmers kasi nga nagbagsakan ngayon ang presyo at dagsa ngayon ang imported rice. May konting cash incentives at may libreng binhi na ipapamahagi,” Marcos told Bataan newsmen in a news briefing.

The first-termer senator said she also pushes for the community procurement of palay where she said she will convince major government agencies like the DSWD, NHA, the AFP, PNP and even private companies like the Philippine Airlines to buy directly from the local farmers instead of dealing with traders.

After meeting with the farmers, Senator Marcos accompanied by Rep. Roman, proceeded to Barangay Pantalang Bago in Orani town and gave some assistance to the recent fire victims before proceeding to the Dinalupihan Civic Center.

Senator Marcos met with Dinalupihan local officials led by Mayor Gila Garcia along with Provincial Board Members Jomar Gaza and Dr. Bong Galicia.
Both Rep. Taduran and Senator Marcos thanked Bataeños mostly women in the said occasion for supporting them in the last elections.
