Mt. Samat pilgrimage for supertyphoon victims

BALANGA CITY — The Diocese of Balanga dedicates the pilgrimage to Mount Samat in Barangay Diwa, Pilar, Bataan on November 30 to the victims of earthquake and the recent typhoon Yolanda in the Visayan region, Bishop Ruperto Santos told local newsmen here the other day.
The pilgrimage is an annual event of the Diocese since 2004 to mark the First Sunday of Advent when more than 30,000 people walk their way seven kilometers from the foot of the famous mountain to the World War II monument, the Dambana ng Kagitingan (Shrine of Valor).
A giant war memorial white cross there that stands 90.4 meters is one of Bataan’s major tourist attractions that looks “as if swaying with the clouds.”
