Jose Mari Garcia of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA-Bataan) in a report sent to Headline Gitnang Luzon said that the Municipality of Abucay was awarded as second placer in the Most Outstanding Child-Friendly LGU award while Samal town landed on the third place.
Samal Mayor Gene Malibiran-Dela Fuente in her speech after receiving the award said that the Samal Birthing Clinic beside their majestic municipal hall has helped a lot of her constituents specially those in the poverty and below the poverty level.
“One of my dreams before I became the mayor of Samal is for the Samalenyos to be born in Samal, not in Balanga or Orani hospital,” Mayor Dela Fuente told this correspondent.
Meanwhile, Abucay got the Most Improved Local Council for the Protection of Children award.
In the recently concluded Provincial/Municipal/City Councils for the Protection of Children Summit, Abucay officials led by Mayor Ana Santiago reported the fast progress of their children’s council from ‘Basic’ status to ‘Ideal’ status.
Mariveles also won the Best in Advocacy and Best in Documentation awards while Samal was cited as Best in Innovation.
The summit was organized by the Provincial Council for the Welfare of Children and the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office led by Marilyn Tigas.
