ORION, Bataan –Illegal fishers get out of Bataan!
Two fishing boats were confiscated by the police the other day after they were left behind by its owners who were reportedly conducting dynamite fishing off the coast of barangay Capunitan, this town.
In response to Gov Abet Garcia’s directive to protect Bataan’s fishing ground, Sr. Supt. Audie Atienza, said PNP personnel of Orion PNP led by PO2 Natalio P. Robles and two (2) other civilian volunteers of Bataan Provincial Anti-Illegal Fishing Task Force conducted Seaborne Patrol Operations within the maritime waters of Brgy Capunitan this town.
As a result, they were able to monitor a group resorting to blast fishing.This has prompted Chief Inspector Ronnie Fabia, chief of police, to direct his men to go after the illegal fishers.
Fabia said while his men approaching the explosion site, they spotted two (2) motorized fishing boats, one of which was throwing bottles with dynamite.
Immediately, they rushed to the scene and a chase was made until both motorized fishing boats landed and abandoned by the operators in the seashore of Sitio Depensa Brgy. Capunitan Orion, Bataan.
The unidentified operators escaped.
The policemen and members of Orion Bantay Dagat had then conducted search to both fishing boats and recovered two (2) bottles of Improvised Dynamite ( one (1) RC Mega and one (1) 500ml Redhorse), thirty one (31) pieces Tambor, five (5) pieces Foot Pedal, six (6) pieces refine Net, three (3) Bondles of Compressor with tank, one (1) piece bath (Banyera).
Also recovered from other fishing boat were one (1) piece 123 HP Motor, one (1) piece 20 HP Motor, one (1) compressor with tank, thirty one (31) pcs of Tambor, five (5) pieces of foot pedal and four (4) pieces of Catch Net.
Recovered confiscated evidences were brought at Bantay Dagat in Brgy. Pag Asa Orion, Bataan Bataan for proper disposition, said Fabia, adding a follow-up investigation was made for possible identification of the suspects and the owner of said motorized fishing boats.
