BALANGA City – The Department of Tourism in Region 3 in coordination with the Bataan Provincial Tourism Office held a two-day seminar in Balanga City last Tuesday and Wednesday aimed at developing quality and competitive tour packages.
The training made at the Bataan Tourism Center has for its project title “Tour Package and Development and Delivery Seminar for Mt. Samat and Its Environs.”
“The module was designed to train local tour operators, resort owners and other stakeholders in Mt. Samat and its environs on how to effectively package, operate and manage a tour in their respective areas,” Architect Christina “Techie” Banzon, provincial tourism chief, said.
The seminar also featured a basic step by step approach in planning and development and delivery of competitive tour packages, she said.
Danica Tigas, provincial tourism staff, said 21 participants composed of resort owners and representatives from local tourism offices attended.
Among the speakers were DOT Region 3 Director Ronaldo Tiotuico, Architect Banzon and Bienvenido Claravall who is senior lecturer at the University of the Philippines and Asian Institute of Tourism, Tigas said.
Tiotuico discussed the national tourism development plan, tourist arrival data and preferred attractions and activities. Banzon dealt on the inventory of existing, emerging and potential tourist attractions and activities in Mt. Samat and its environs.
Claravall talked on type of tour operators and revenue sources; type of tour packages and components; planning and developing tour packages; costing and pricing tour packages; tour operations cycle; role of tour guides; marketing and selling tour packages; customer relations and professional ethics and obligations.
