CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Bataan celebrates 2015 National Women’s Month with a Lecture on Women and Livelihood Program: Candle Making Seminar held at the PSA Conference Room, Tenejero, this City last March 20.
The highlight of the lecture was the hands-on demonstration of making candles by entrepreneur Carlos Carlos. The lecture included actual experiences in managing a small business which covered scouting for supplies, production process and dealing with customers.
Jessie V. Garcia, District Statistics Officer, PSA Bataan started the activity with a discussion on Generating Business Capital from Personal Savings. Richard T. Guevara, PSA staff on the hand made a Refresher Course on Cost Profit Volume Analysis.
This year’s theme of the 2015 National Women’s Month “Juana, Desisyon Mo ay Mahalaga sa Kinabukasan ng Bawat Isa, Ikaw Na”, fits the premise of the activity, which calls for women empowerment through financial independence.
Participants were PSA Bataan staff and other invited guests. This is the third activity conducted for the lecture series on Women. PSA Bataan first had Lecture on Women Empowerment: Violence Against Women and their Children at Brgy Tortugas last March 13 and followed by the Lecture on Women on Workplace held at the PSA Conference Hall, last March.
PSA, formerly known as the National Statistics Office (NSO) is the major statistical agency responsible in collecting, compiling, classifying, producing, publishing, and disseminating general-purpose statistics as provided for in Republic Act 10625. Beyond that, PSA extends the commitment in undertaking activities that foster social responsibility and promote development and good governance of the employees.
