BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Board Member Dante Manalaysay, vice chair of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Tourism Committee, is eyeing national government funding to provide mechanism for the maintenance and improvement of the facilities of existing historical landmarks, World War ll battle and surrender sites in the province.
Manalaysay has suggested the government should undertake strategic development scheme to solidify the historical heritage and memorable locations where Filipinos soldiers showed their heroic deeds in defending our freedom and the democratic institution against the invaders.
He described the development of the sites and facilities of the last Bastion of Democracy in Asia would encourage local and foreign visitors to stay longer to appreciate the historical legacy and scenic nature parks and mountain havens in the upland areas of Mariveles, Bagac,Morong and Orani towns.
Manalaysay said the national government should allocate funds to ensure the development of the significant historical scenario as a lasting tribute and progressive support to tourism industry.
He further explained the increasing tourist arrivals due to sustain historical expansion of facilities may result to more revenues for the local government and involvement of small and medium enterprises in food processing, souvenir shops, restaurants, hotels and other transport services.
Manalaysay has foreseen a much better impact on tourism business of the extended government support for the necessary upgrading of the provincial memorials and markers in Bataan.
