DPWH allots P2.1B for Bataan Highway widening

ORANI, Bataan – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is allotting approximately 2.1 billion pesos for the widening of the Bataan Provincial Highway or the Roman Expressway.

This was revealed last Tuesday by Engr. Erlindo “Boying” Flores, DPWH 1st district office OIC, in a news briefing at his office in this first-class town.

“The gradual widening is on-going especially in the area of Abucay with funds coming from the general appropriations fund or congressional regular releases,” Flores said.

The said widening project is due to the increasing traffic flow in the province’s main artery as a result of increasing investments in the province’s economic zones and business hubs.

Flores also added that street lights will also be installed within the whole stretch of the highway with funds coming from the motor vehicle usage charge (MVUC). In the town of Hermosa, the installation of street posts is now ongoing.

Footbridges with man-lift or elevators will also be constructed in major intersections within the stretch of the said highway.

At present, Flores added, footbridges are set to be built in Barangay Culis intersection in Hermosa; Barangay Gugo in Samal; Abucay and Orani, also along the Roman Expressway.
