BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Architect Christina Banzon Enriquez, provincial tourism officer, stressed the principal role of the family as the natural and fundamental unit of the Filipino society to highlight the best interest and welfare of the children.
Speaking before some 100 participants coming from various tourism-oriented enterprises in the province in her welcome remarks on Child Safe Tourism Orientation Seminar held at Crown Royale last Thursday, Ms. Enriquez explicitly clarified the inherent right of the child who is entitled to compassionate protective cloak by the society and the State.
Other speaker of the one day seminar workshop on Child Safe Tourism, Ms. Catherine Scerni, deputy director of Bahay-Tuluyan for Street Children based in Manila, discussed children safe scenario particularly spotlighting on the seven (7) travelers tips on the function of travel and tourism industry.
Ms. Scerni briefly lectured on the collaborative application of child safe environment and ensuring protective atmosphere free from exploitations and abuses.
Retired government prosecutor, Atty. Eric Mallonga gave the participants clearer aspects on the legal implications and essential pointers on the scope of tourism on human rights, child’s rights and its impact to sustainable travel and tourism industry.
He elaborated on the legal characteristics pertaining to Philippine laws on children, commercial sexual manipulation and mistreatment of children.
He added the safety of the child as a primordial apprehension of civil society not only in the travel and tourism business but the general public are duty bound to undertake legal and praiseworthy measures for the benefit of the children.
