BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Intensifying crackdown on illegal drugs and contrabands, the Bataan District Jail conducted on Saturday Operation Greyhound.
“We found no illegal drugs, only improvised bladed weapons and assorted contrabands”, said Jail Superintendent Andrew Tauli, Bataan District Jail warden, who led the joint surprise inspection of jail cells with operatives and representatives of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine National Police, Capitol Security and Intelligence Unit, and media.
“This is the first Operation Greyhound in Central Luzon since Jail Chief Superintendent Deogracias Tapayan, acting chief of BJMP, launched Oplan Linis Piitan this 2nd week of October”, he said.
“Actually, this is the 3rd joint Operation Greyhound we conducted at Bataan District Jail since I became warden last year. On our own initiative here as BJMP inside the jail, we are regularly conducting the inspection once or twice a week but adopting certain strategy to make it effective”, he explained.
“With the Oplan Linis Piitan, we intend to conduct joint Operation Greyhound here at least once or twice a month”, Tauli said.
For his part, PDEA Provincial Head Marlou Ordona remarked on the result of the operation, “This is good, we found no illegal drugs”.
He led a team of PDEA operatives with two canine dogs joining the operation.
Roel Tarayao of ABC 5, a journalist who is veteran in covering BJMP beat in NCR and Central Luzon for two decades noted, “Only now I saw no illegal drugs were found during a search operation inside a jail, which means that BJMP in Bataan District Jail led by Jail Superintendent Tauli is doing very good”.
