Gov. Abet, Cong Joet, lead culminating activity of 262nd Bataan Foundation Day celebration

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – In his message during the culminating activity of the 262nd Foundation Day Celebration of Bataan, Gov. Abet Garcia, reminisced the history of the province, from previously being a part of Pampanga until it became a separate province on Jan. 11, 1757 as decreed by then Governor General Pedro Manuel Arandia.
Gov. Garcia also touched on the times when Bataan went through the different influences of the Spanish, Japanese, and American rule which magnified the valor and heroism amid hunger and the challenges of war. Yet for the love of one’s country, we emerged victorious and enjoy our present independence.
Rising from the ashes of the catastrophic war, Gov. Garcia said, Bataan has now evolved into a peaceful and prosperous province, that as Bataan
celebrates its 262nd founding anniversary, it has now become a fast developing province and tourists’ haven with a rising tourism market, well sustained industrial and business community.
And with the first celebration of our province’s birthday, Gov. Garcia hopes that the people can give a new commitment to serve for a more developed Bataan.
Meanwhile Cong. Joet Garcia in his welcome address praised the hard work of the Bataeños and the provincial government for the preparations of different activities like the Trade Fair showcasing the different products of the province, the choral and folk dance competition which featured Bataeños as talented and artistic people.
In the end, Cong Joet expressed his hope that we are leaving a legacy that we can be proud of transferring to the next generation.
