Hermosa Mayor Anne Inton attended a coordination meeting held at the SBMA Corporate Board Room on November 4, 2025, to discuss the continuation of the Subic-Clark-Manila-Batangas (SCMB) Railway Project. The discussion centered on port-rail integration and the preliminary environmental impact assessment scoping for the major infrastructure initiative.
The meeting was led by Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Senior Deputy Administrator for Operations Ronnie R. Yambao. Officials emphasized the importance of closer coordination among involved agencies, technical data consolidation, and the endorsement of a project consultant to ensure smooth implementation.
The SCMB Railway Project aims to establish a seamless 560-kilometer rail network linking Subic, Clark, Manila, and Batangas, designed to improve freight and cargo movement between major economic zones and ports in Central and Southern Luzon. Once completed, the project is expected to reduce logistics costs, ease traffic congestion, and strengthen the country’s competitiveness in regional trade.
Participants also tackled the preparation of necessary documents and technical requirements to be submitted to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for the project’s next stages. These include site inspections, environmental assessments, and the integration of Subic Port into the planned national logistics and railway network. Mayor Inton reaffirmed Hermosa’s commitment to supporting the SCMB Railway Project, highlighting its potential to boost regional connectivity and economic growth across Bataan and neighboring provinces.
