What was widely known as “pailaw’ or switching on ceremony for Christmas lights turned into a sort of phenomenon to residents of Orani, the fish food capital of Central Luzon.
Orani residents filled the considerably wide public space as early as 4pm to satisfy themselves with fresh air and to watch people go by as well as meet old acquaintances and relatives.
It was a sort of family affair for people who take a break from household chores and stressful vagaries of life. Without much ado, count down came and the residents applaused and spirited appreciation filled the air that went with brief fireworks display.
An old folk said this is the first time that it happened in Orani, that such an elaborate Christmas lighting with fireworks display was witnessed by local residents.
Orani Mayor Jon Arizapa thanked people behind the preparation of Christmas lights, and the food stall holders who cater to the promenaders.
