AFAB earns citation as leading strategic trade partner at STM Week 2025

The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) earned a commendation as one of the country’s foremost partners in Strategic Trade Management during the STM Week 2025 celebration held from November 11 to 13 in Makati City.

The award, presented by former Chief Justice and Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin with Trade Undersecretary Allan Gepty, marked the highlight of the Department of Trade and Industry’s closing ceremony for the annual event.

AFAB Administrator and CEO Mohammad Hussein Pangandaman was cited for steering the agency toward stronger compliance and more proactive implementation of Strategic Trade Management measures within the Freeport.

Through his leadership, AFAB has strengthened systems that ensure responsible trade of strategic and dual-use goods.
Receiving the recognition on behalf of the agency was Francis Anthony Emata, head of the Enterprise Assistance Division, together with Reprym Lloyd Mendoza, Document Examiner III.

Their division plays a crucial role in enforcing STM regulations and assisting locators in meeting national and international standards.

The Strategic Trade Management Act, enacted in 2015, serves as the country’s framework for safeguarding sensitive goods and technologies while supporting global security commitments.
