In celebration of the National Women’s Month, the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB), through its Gender and Development (GAD) Committee, is set to hold the “GAD Congress: An Awareness Orientation on Anti-Rape Law and Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act” on March 19.
The activity aims to strengthen awareness and understanding of key laws protecting women and vulnerable sectors, particularly Republic Act No. 8353 or the Anti-Rape Law of 1997, and Republic Act No. 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as expanded by Republic Act No. 11862.
AFAB said the GAD Congress forms part of its continuing commitment to promote a gender-fair culture and inclusive workplace within the Freeport Area of Bataan.
Through the orientation, the agency seeks to empower its workforce, stakeholders, and partner-locators with a fundamental understanding of the legal frameworks that safeguard individuals against sexual violence and human trafficking.
The agency has invited two representatives from each company within the Freeport to participate in the event.
