The Municipal Government of Mariveles through the Sangguniang Bayan is looking into the increasing number of teenaged pregnancies.
In its social media page, the Local Government Unit of Mariveles said the Committee on Health, chaired by Councilor Ivan Ricafrente, shall identify factors that contribute to the increase in number of minor females getting pregnant and find ways to put a “brake on the trend.”
The Health Committee will also draft measures on how to protect the privacy of individuals afflicted with sexually transmitted disease so as to avoid violating human rights.
Earlier, the Provincial Health Board of Bataan also tackled in its monthly meeting the increasing number of teenage pregnancies as filtered from the reports of Rural Health Units across Bataan
Mariveles hosts the sprawling Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) with more than 10,000 factory workers most of them young women from neighboring provinces of Central Luzon making the industrial coastal town a melting pot.
