Mayor David boosts chess development

Mayor Richie David continues to strengthen chess development in Limay with the staging of the 4th Mayor Richie Jason David Chess Tournament last May 23 at the Limay Park Multi-Purpose Hall.

 

Limay Chess Coordinator and National Chess Arbiter Erickson Marimla said the tournament will adopt a rapid open format with a 15-minute time control plus a 5-second increment. The tournament is FIDE-rated.

 

Mayor David underscored his continued push to develop chess in Limay, especially among the youth. He cited the role of sports like chess in instilling discipline, critical thinking, and sportsmanship. He said Limay LGU remains committed to programs that nurture talent and promote community involvement.

 

The mayor vowed to strengthen and expand chess initiatives in Limay as part of his sustained grassroots sports development program.
