AboitizPower and Mariveles LGU join forces for a greener, safer community

AboitizPower private limited partnerships GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD), signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Local Government of Mariveles last April 20 to help restore local shorelines and equip the youth with life-saving disaster response skills.

The project includes a ₱300,000 investment to support coastal cleanups aimed at protecting marine biodiversity and revitalizing local shores. The rollout will begin with Phase 1 at Aguawan Beach in Barangay Sisiman this May, followed by Phase 2 at Dinginin Beach in Sitio Dinginin in September.

The initiative reflects a spirit of bayanihan, bringing together volunteers from GMEC, GNPD, and the local community. The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office will oversee the logistics to ensure that all collected waste is properly managed and disposed of. Another ₱300,000 investment has been allotted for Disaster Risk Reduction training for local youth organizations.

Facilitated by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the training aims to empower young Mariveles residents to become capable leaders equipped with the skills needed to keep their families and communities safe during emergencies and disasters. The partnership highlights the long-standing commitment of GMEC and GNPD to the Mariveles community.

By combining resources and expertise, the companies and the local government are taking proactive steps toward building a more sustainable and resilient future for the next generation.
