BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A branch of Starmall will soon open in this component city. Engineer Loreto “GM Leri” Marcelino, general manager of Peninsula Electric Cooperative (PENELCO) announced that recently, the PENELCO board of directors approved the building of a 10-megawatt substation in Barangay Cupang for the mall’s electricity supply. “The mall’s electricity supply requirement is even bigger than those in the towns of Orion and Pilar,” Marcelino said.
The Villar Group, the mall’s owner, reportedly started the project quietly informing only the local officials of the city and the village where it is located. City Mayor Joet Garcia said that the company chose not to announce it publicly especially to the media to surprise their competitors about their presence in Bataan.
“The Villar Group plans to expand its Starmalls from five to 22 in the next few years. As we continue to expand Camella Homes all over the country, we are also building more Starmalls nationwide,” former Senator Manuel “Manny” Villar Jr. said in a news statement. At present there are three branches of Camella Homes in Bataan, two in Balanga City and one in Orani.
Meanwhile, Villar also announced that four new Starmall shopping centers in Taguig City, Imus and Molino in Cavite and Sta. Rosa in Laguna are slated for opening in the next few months of 2015.
